Gritting Update – Fri 2 Jan

You will have noticed that we’ve got problems in three places on the hill with springs/seepage/runoff and we still have. We are told that DCC will put Ice warning signs up at the bottom of the hill and SWW will repair the fractured main on Monday. It makes life difficult as anything the Team put down will be washed away. As precipitation is forecast overnight, it is, I’m afraid, pretty pointless our going out. It’s a perpetual dilemma for volunteers with a small towable gritter, we can’t go out several times during the night as the Council Gritters do. Please though take care if this freezes over tonight and tomorrow morning. The bins are there for anyone to use on the road. Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Wed 31 Dec

Our grateful thanks go to Andy H and Matt for gritting the whole length of the hill today. Please though take care if the water on the hill freezes over tonight – highly likely. Apparently the water from the Venn drive is from a fractured water main, SWW are aware so, hopefully that should be solved – one down! There’s an Amber Cold Weather Alert until next Tuesday.

Gritting Update – Tues 30 Dec

You will have noticed that we’ve got problems in three places on the hill with springs/seepage/runoff and this is despite Highways being told of them when the road was closed for resurfacing. It makes life difficult as anything the Team put down risks being washed away. However, Andy H and Don have been out today to grit the hill from Pooks down to the bottom. Please though take care if this freezes over tonight. Both Andy B and Andy H have been using grit from the bins prior to today on the bit by Southwood. The bins are there for anyone to use on the road. Our thanks go to all three. Anne Mayes
