The Bridford Fete
Saturday July 13th 2024
The Bridford Fete happens every year on the second Saturday in July.
Our traditional village fete takes place in the beautiful Woodland Park, the conservation area managed by the Bridford Trust, unless the weather makes this impractical in which case we move to The Village Hall. The organising committee aim to provide a fun day and raise funds for the local community. We have lots of games, live music, BBQ, Bar and the ever popular “Bric-a-Brac” and outstanding afternoon tea and cakes.
Recent Introductions
- A Circus Entertainer teaching various skills
- The introduction of The Bridford Barbarians Cup a revival of the historic Teign Valley Tug of War competition.
- The Splendid “Egg Throwing Contest”.. .(Choose a partner, all line up and throw your raw eggs between you at increasing distances – wear appropriate clothing, there’s a lot of splatting!!)
New for 2024
THE “HOME MADE “ STALL
The Bridford Fete does not have trade stalls but we would like to introduce a stall selling items that the community have donated that have been made, created or grown in our own homes.
During the winter maybe you can make something to donate for us to sell?
ALL PROCEEDS ARE TO LOCAL CAUSES
Here are some suggestions:
- Hobbies: Pottery, artwork, cards, knitting, crochet, weaving, woodturning, toys
- From the bees: honey, candles
- From the garden: Bunches of flowers, vegetables, plants, fruit, eggs.
- From the kitchen: Cakes, biscuits, savouries , breads, chutney, pickles, jam, marmalade.
Hopefully, you get the idea. Our focus is an event by community for the community, just one item from lots of people will hopefully give us a lovely looking stall that everyone will want to visit.
Cottage Industries
If you’d like to donate a sample we will sell it at your suggested price and display your details to buyers. We do not have stall holders at our fete though.
