Accommodation required for Christow School worker

The Chairman of Christow School Governors has put out a plea to anyone who may be able to help with finding accommodation for the school caretaker / cook.  This person has until now,  been living in Air B’n’B but now the holiday season is on us, this accommodation is no longer available and he is looking for somewhere locally to live, maybe a room to rent as a lodger for somebody who may welcome some company and some extra income.   If you can help please contact Mike Wharton tel. 01647 252147 who will be able to put you in touch.

B3193 Road Closures Update

B3193 Teign Valley Road Closures

The next planned closure are Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th October 2017 from 8.30am – 3.30pm.  This will allow the existing surfacing on the southbound carriageway to be excavated.

The road will require further closures from Tuesday 31st October to undertake the resurfacing (likely duration four days).  This has been scheduled to avoid closure during half term week.

The road will be closed approximately 500m south of Teign Valley Golf Club.  The official diversion route will remain as before.

The section of road at Spara Retaining Wall (1km north of Teign Valley Golf Club) will remain open during the above closures as the investigation works were successfully completed last week.  However, for public safety the traffic lights will remain in place until remedial works are undertaken possibly later this year.

Bridford Born Author’s First Novel – Fox Halt Farm

Fox Halt Farm by Celia Moore

Celia Moore was born at Westcott Farm (although she moved around and now lives in Longdown) and will shortly be self-publishing her first novel. ‘Set over two decades with a backdrop of atmospheric Dartmoor, Fox Halt Farm is a fast paced and compelling romance. Billy, the girl from the struggling Devon family farm falls into the contrasting world of London life. The intense and moving story starts on a cliff edge. Betrayal, love and desperate secrets tear at your heart as you find yourself ‘fighting’ with Billy to save herself – and her beloved family home.’ Fox Halt Farm is set near Okehampton.

Celia remembers her time in Bridford fondly and has a treasured old photo of her day with his two plough horses, Blossom and Pleasant.  He used to work the horses on the rocky fields there. He could plough up to an acre a day and Blossom and Pleasant always knew to stop if the plough was about to hit one of the many rocks sticking out of the ground.

Fox Halt Farm will be published on 1st November and will be available on Amazon or Kindle or alternatively, directly from Celia (celia@frub.org).
