Dartmoor National Park have asked us to share the following event information with parishioners.
The Rivers and Moorland festival, celebrating the arts, the environment and everyone living and working on the moor, is being held in Ivybridge on 5th – 7th June 2026, with the launch event happening on 12th January. Bridford Parish Council meeting 5th Jan 2026 CANCELLED
Due to the current weather conditions and hazardous icy roads in and around the village and on the approach to the Village Hall we have taken the decision to cancel the Bridford Parish Council meeting on Monday 5th January.

Talk with your local police team at Christow 16th December 4pm
Your local Neighbourhood Team will be at CHRISTOW at THE BUS STOP BY THE CHRISTOW COMMUNITY SHOP, VILLAGE ROAD, CHRISTOW EX6 7WA on 16TH DECEMBER 2025 at 4PM.
Please take this opportunity to raise any concerns you may have and to find out what the police are doing to tackle the issues that matter to you.
Police issue burglary warning: Moretonhampstead area
Burglary to farm outbuildings, Moretonhampstead
Police have received a report of burglary to outbuildings on a farm in the area of Moretonhampstead. This has taken place sometime between 4pm on Sunday 2 November and 9.30am on Monday 3 November.
Items stolen include a quad bike trailer, 2 x Husqvarna chainsaws, pressure washer, hedge trimmer, shovels, various fuel containers/cans, feed trough, along with other items.
Officers are appealing for the community to check CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage for the times above and report any suspicious behaviour.
We would ask other similar properties in the area to consider the following prevention advice;
· check outbuildings regularly, consider reviewing security and the use of locks, security lighting/CCTV etc
· consider the use of clamps/locks and tracking systems on quad bikes
· immobilise vehicles and machinery in a lockable building or out of sight
· remove and secure keys away from vehicles
· secure gates and block unused entrances
· keep a record of serial numbers, photograph vehicles/equipment and note any unique features

Community Police meeting: 19th Nov 7pm
The local community police team are holding a meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 19th November in Christow at the bus shelter next to the community shop. This community meeting gives you the opportunity to raise any concerns and to find out what the police are doing to tackle the issues that matter to you.
Steps Bridge road closure update: 24th-28th November 2025
EDITED: Please note the revised dates from Monday 24th-Friday 28th November
We have received revised dates from DCC Highways for the delayed first phase of the road closure above Steps Bridge for removal of vegetation. Work is now due to start on Monday 24th November and finish by the end of the day on Friday 28th November.
Further work to stabilise the embankment is due to take place from 5th January 2026 and is expected to last for 16 weeks.
We will share any further updates as we receive them.
