Gritting Update – Thurs 21 Jan

Mike kindly repaired the gritter for us and Matt and Colin took it out tonight to grit the hill. We thank all three for their efforts, gratefully received. A word of warning though, there’s a lot of running water still near the bottom of the hill, this will, unfortunately, wash most of the grit away, so take it easy! Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Sat 9 Jan

Our regular drivers were unable to go out tonight but we were saved at the last moment by Andy with a tow bar who went out with Mick to grit the hill and we thank both of them. Unfortunately there were problems with the gritter so we’ll have to try and sort that out. Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Thurs 7 Jan

Another cold night forecast, the volunteers are busy this week and it looks as if there are a few more cold nights to come. This time our thanks go to Dom and Colin for gritting the hill. Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Wed 6 Jan

Devon have put out a severe weather warning for ice tomorrow and say that the Secondary Routes will be treated tomorrow morning. That means that they should be doing the hill for us. It’s freezing tonight so Matt and Nige have just been out to grit the hill now and we thank them for that. Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Mon 4 Jan

This time our thanks go to Dom and Mick for gritting the hill. Hopefully, given the forecasts, we’ll be out for the next few nights. We’ve had a good response to our plea for more to join the team but we’re still in need of more with a tow bar! Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Sat 2 Jan

Our thanks to Matt and to Nige – on his first run – for gritting a safe route for us down to the Valley Road which is fortunate enough to be on the Primary Gritting Route. Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Fri 1 Jan

Another cold night forecast, the volunteers are busy this week and it looks as if there are a few more cold nights to come. This time our thanks go to Dom and Colin for gritting the hill. Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Thurs 31 Dec

Met Office ice warning out until tomorrow morning and Highways are going out no fewer than three times on the Primary Routes – including those to the vaccination centres apparently. Our route has just been done for us by Jarrod and Dave, putting no fewer than 14 bags down. Thank you both for venturing out on New Year’s Eve , much appreciated. A Happier New Year everyone! Anne Mayes

Gritting Update – Wed 30 Dec

Our grateful thanks to Jarrod and Dave who’ve just gritted the hill for us.
Although we’ve had some very welcome new volunteers we do still need more who could drive and tow the gritter. Tonight’s gritting almost didn’t take place. Please contact the Parish Clerk if you are able to help.
