Unity Magazine – May 2020

The May 2020 edition of Unity will not be printed and delivered as usual on the instructions of the Church because of COVID-19. The magazine WILL be issued but emailed to all distributors, advertisers, and contributors with the request that they forward my email with the magazine attachment to all people in the Valley they have email addresses for and hopefully that way people will still have it to read. A copy will also be available on the Bridford village web site

You may still go in but only to walk on the grass.

Bridford Church Coranvirus Home Support

It is now likely that a significant amount of people in the village will have to self-isolate due to the coronavirus threat.

If you would like to be supported, please contact the local coordinator: –

Kathy Fitzjohn – 01647 252515 or email tessaderby@gmail.com

If you are able to offer support please contact Kathy or email Tessa with your name and contact details. Such details will be destroyed once the threat has passed and the scheme no longer needs to operate.

If you need support, please contact Kathy or Tessa with a list of shopping required, stating clearly whether alternatives are acceptable, and/or details of medication (e.g. number of items, address of pharmacy). Also, if you need someone to walk your dog.

No charge should be accepted for the collection and/or delivery of items. It is a free and voluntary service. Payment for shopping or prescription charges can be made by BACS transfer where this is possible/available. Alternatively, cheque or cash left in an envelope on the doorstop (both parties should wash/sanitise hands before and after handling cash or a cheque).

Both those offering support and those receiving it should maintain the highest level of hygiene by washing hands or using hand sanitiser both before and after contact. Do not shake hands and maintain a distance of at least 2 metres/6 feet 6 inches.

CORONAVIRUS – HELP FOR THOSE “SELF-ISOLATING” WHO NEED HELP WITH SHOPPING
AND/OR COLLECTING MEDICATION

The situation with Coronavirus is changing rapidly so these arrangements may well have to be reviewed.
Government and NHS advice is available as follows:
NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Planned Road Closure – B3212 @ Farrants Hill – Mon 2nd Dec thru Fri 6th Dec 2019

Devon Highway’s contractor is planning to close the B3212 between Farrants Hill and Perridge Cross (just before the sawmill). The work is to improve drainage and is planned from Monday 2nd December through to Friday 6th December.

The road closure notice doesn’t include any details on the hours so don’t know whether it’s 24×7 or daytime only. Official diversion is, the usual, the valley road to/from Chudleigh.

More details on the road closure – https://one.network/?tmi=10909178

The closure also affects Country Bus 359 (Exeter, Longdown, Dunsford, Moretonhampstead), with a taxi replacement that must be booked in advance. Details for that are http://countrybusdevon.co.uk/2019/11/22/359-longdown/

Teign Teens

Teign Teens is a youth group, for Year 7 to 10. It’s run from TVCH every other Friday from 7 pm until 9 pm.  More details on the Teign Teens website.

Valley Road Closures 16th – 20th September

B3193 is planned to be closed between Christow and Lower Ashton at some point from 16th to 20th September to enable surface dressing, stud and white lines to be renewed. Currently scheduled between 09:30 and 15:30. Full details.

B3212 is planned to be closed between Farrants Cross and Culver Sawmill at some point from 16th to 20th September to enable surface dressing, stud and white line renewal. Currently scheduled between 09:30 and 15:30. Full details.

Apparently both roads will not be closed at the same time. However, given the changes 10 days ago on day time works becoming night time works on the valley road, then you would check before you travel.
